I’m sorry this is so brief. I meant to write a sweet little something about how I love love & how I love my lover & how it’s almost Valentine’s Day, which is wonderful. But I was struck down by a particularly harrowing case of food poisoning last night, and I’m still a baby foal or filly or whatever, holding myself up on shaky limbs. So, I’ll just say, I hope you enjoy my love poem—I wrote it, as you may suspect from bed one Sunday morning last month, feeling quite loved. I hope that you feel the love.
10am Church Bells
Church bells and wet air
Come in through the open window.
It’s a kind of January blue in here, but you’re
Pressed against me
Press against me
In your sleep, so I know you want me
Even there, wherever.
It rained all night instead of snow
But the girl at the bar said
“Who is that couple that looks
So in love?” And it was us
And we walked home in the cold rain.
Now the bells are ringing, and your arm
Is thrown over me.
Don’t forget to mail your Valentine’s this weekend to ensure they arrive on time! xx
Poignant and beautiful poem
