Of Mice and Men is a favourite of mine! and I know I've read the Dead, but it failed to make an impression at the time. This has inspired me to give it another go.
I started reading this post as soon as I arrived at my dermatologist’s waiting room. Was almost finished when her assistant came over and told me the doctor was ready. I said to myself [disappointed to be interrupted], “Oh maaaaan.” The last time I reacted that way to finding out I was next, I was twelve years old and about to get braces.
In other words: Remember those days of pawed over, twelve-year-old National Geographics and eleven-month-old Newsweeks? Eve’s posts all nice and neat right here on my little pocket computer is proof that, at least in SOME ways, things are getting much better.
Ooo what wonderful reviews! 💖 Cold Enough for Snow has been on my sort of radar for a while - would you say you recommend it? I have also never read Of Mice and Men! We’re both so unique and mysterious x I want to get round it to tho and this review is driving that desire even more. I also have East of Eden by Steinbeck sitting on my shelf. I am consistently not choosing to reach for it, and I think that’s because of the length. Perhaps I’ll start w M&M to get my appetite for his work going xxx
Omg East of Eden is a masterpiece!!!! Highly recommend just diving in--that was the first Steinbeck book I ever read. I also LOVED Travels with Charley. And yes--I think you’d enjoy Cold Enough for Snow!!
Okay really feeling the peer pressure from you here Eve to read East of Eden - such high praise! I’ll get to it soon! Will get back to you on thoughts of both when I get round to reading them!
