It has come to my attention of late that no one really knows that I host a monthly podcast with my sister. This sad circumstance is completely our own doing, since we do next to nothing to promote the show. Since I am not adult enough to have the instagram app on my phone, I create little graphic posts on Canva and send them to Kathryn to be posted. I used to be better about clipping videos of our recording sessions, but out of sheer laziness I haven’t done that in some time either.
I can forgive myself all that since our account has a fairly meager following anyway—of people who mostly already adore us. What is less excusable is that I barely mention the thing (podcast) here. There are more of you here (at least a few more), and many who don’t know and adore me, let alone Kathryn. Some of you might actually kind of hate me. Probably not since I’m not that big or investing, but wouldn't that be a thrill!
Whatever the case, you’re here in part because you want to know what I think about books, which is what the podcast is about—books! So it makes it even more inexcusable that I rarely mention the thing (podcast), or if I do it’s usually an afterthought or footnote. If we really hope to make it big and leave it all behind we’re going to have to find a way to promote ourselves in spite of my crippling social media addiction and Kathryn’s hopeless millennialism on instagram. Consider this my earnest attempt.
My sister Kathryn and I host a podcast called Something We Read (get it?). Every month we read a book and then get together to chat about it. We also talk about other things (like food usually and volcanoes) and the other books we are reading tooo. We always close with a poem. This month we read Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. The episode came out on Tuesday, but don’t worry, today, Halloween (a day I frankly loathe), is the perfect day to listen—because it’s spooky! Well, at least the book is. The podcast less so. We mostly just laughed through the entire episode this month. Anyway, listen here (!!!):
