Absolutely adored this read š„¹ What a beautiful trip! Maine is truly such a special place-both sides of my family have ties to different areas of the state. I also got engaged in Camden last fall! Thank you for posting these restaurant recommendations too, have to go next time Iām up there! š„°š¤
Oh my gosh I love that!! It was my first time in Maine but I felt right at home. Itās such a magical place. && very belated congrats on your engagement š„¹ lol
Loved everything about this, Evert. So much more than just writing about what other people have written... although it does make me want to read the poet / poetry you talk about. Thank you Eve
Thank you, Michelle!!! I'm glad you enjoyed. I loved reading about your getaway in Maine too--Vinalhaven sounded lovely. Spencer and I agreed that next time we go to Maine we want to experience true island living, so that one is high on our list. Had we been in Portland for more than a 45-min breakfast pit-stop, I absolutely would have dropped you a line :)
This was so lovely! A very very Eve newsletter full of poems, clouds and lots of admiration for the food youāve been eating! I had some of the best seafood in a longtime last weekend, took pics of all the food for my brother who wanted to see, and have found myself scrolling through my camera roll drooling at it. The older I get the more I think I must live by the sea - non negotiable. Iām glad you had such a lovely time - last pic is so #mysterious and #romantic x
What a wonderful celebration of all things Maine. Last year, you were kind enough to mention reading my essay about my father ("Divided") in the Sewanee Review. I look forward always to your posts. I have wondered if you have a Sewanee connection. I also like to think that we might have bumped into each other in Southwest Harbor; my husband and I spend six months on unbridged Swan's Island and do a good bit of provisioning in Southwest and Northeast Harbors.
Pamela! I can't tell you what an enormous smile it brought to my face to read this comment. I remember your piece vividly--it blew me away. Suffice it to say that I am a fan, so your kind words about my writing mean so much! I love to imagine that we did in fact cross paths in Southwest Harbor.
As for Sweanee, my only connection there would be the friends I have that attended (numerous) and my love for the Review. And perhaps now you!

<3<3<3 thank you, Martha!! Totally agreed about living by the sea. I think I'd feel trapped otherwise!
